Shea Moisture originates from Africa, in Sierra Leone in 1912, when Sofi Tucker started selling Shea Nuts in the village of Bonthe. Her mother already sold African black soap, shea butter and her artisan preparations for hair and skin care. Shea Moisture is the legacy of Sofi Tucker and traditional African knowledge in the care of hair and body.
Today Shea Moisture is characterized by its accessibility to the public, the use and modernization of traditional African recipes, the search for the best ingredients worldwide and the valuation of the sensory characteristics of the products.
The values that Shea Moisture promotes are fair trade, not testing products on animals and renouncing the use of ingredients such as sulfates, parabens, petroleum derivatives, phthalates and mineral oils.
